Giants Causeway and Bushmills Railway

The Giants Causeway and Bushmills Railway leaves from just outside Bushmills Village on its 20 minute journey of 2 miles to and from the Giants Causeway, along the track bed of what used to be the Giants Causeway Tram. The diesel locomotive runs 4 times a day between 11am and 2.30pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Children, in particular, love being on the train.

The diesel train provides a heritage mode of transportation between the quaint town of Bushmills and the much loved Giant's Causeway.

This 2 mile train journey offer great views as it slowly makes its way over the natural terrain, it is a quaint and different way to arrive at the Giant's Causeway.

The Journey to the Giant's Causeway

The 3 diesel powered tramway type carriages
run along the same route as the original Giant's Causeway and Bushmills Hydro Electric Tram track, which was operated by the Giant's Causeway, Portrush and Bush Valley Railway & Tramway Company Ltd.

In 1883, the original tramway was the first long electric tramway in the world!. It ran for over 65 years until 1949.
